A public AI helper with no adverts and no data selling, and the skills to use it taught in every school and library.
Where we are
The best AI tools cost twenty pounds a month or more, and the free versions increasingly come with adverts and a business model built on your data. So the people who could gain most from a tireless helper (someone juggling two jobs, someone fighting a benefits decision, someone learning to read) are the least likely to have one.
Meanwhile the people who already have money and time get better at using it every day. Left alone, AI widens the gap. It doesn't have to.
What we're asking for
Switzerland's public universities built Apertus, an AI model paid for by the public and open for anyone to use. Estonia is putting AI tools and lessons into its secondary schools. And at home, Field Level Tech already lends a serious AI workstation, free, to people who couldn't otherwise get one. Small proof that the idea works.
This is the ask that makes the other four worth having. Safeguards stop AI being used against you. This one puts it in your hands. A leveller only levels if everyone gets one.
A free helper for every home, and the know-how to use it. Add your name.
