The petition
Add your name.
It takes about thirty seconds. Signing says you want a future with AI, and you'll back it when these five things are true.
What you're signing
To the UK government.
We want a future with AI in it, and we want it to be fair. We call on you to guarantee five safeguards in law.
- Your data is yours. No company may use a person's posts, photos or messages to train AI unless that person actively opts in.
- Your face and voice are yours. Everyone has a legal right to stop anyone making an AI copy of their likeness or voice without permission.
- A human is always available. People are always told when they are dealing with AI. Any automated decision that affects someone's benefits, healthcare, job or credit must be explained, open to challenge and reviewable by a person. Every public service must offer a human.
- Clean power, paid for by them. Data centres that receive public support must run on clean power around the clock, publish their energy and water use, feed waste heat into local homes, and never push costs onto household bills.
- Free AI for everyone. A publicly owned AI helper, free to use, with no adverts and no selling of data. Good use of AI taught in every school by 2028 and in libraries, with free training for job seekers and anyone whose job is changing, and extra funding for the areas that need it most.
The pledge behind it. “I want a future with AI. I'll back it when five things are true: my data is mine, my face and voice are mine, a human is always available, the power is clean and paid for by them, and it's free for everyone.”
